Women who own their own businesses are enjoying their newfound sense of empowerment, despite the fact that the majority are still expected to do the household chores at the end of the day, a Berkshire firm has claimed.
According to Maidenhead-based Intuit UK, 82.3 per cent of female entrepreneurs are still expected to cook their family's supper after their day at work, and 72.8 per cent still take care of the household laundry.
Over a third of the women surveyed by the financial management software provider said that they had been inspired to start up their own business by the prospect of taking control of their own life, while 34.7 per cent said that they had wanted to be their own boss.
"Being your own boss is becoming an increasingly attractive option for many women, especially new mums," said Pippa Kitaruth, a spokeswoman for Intuit.
However, she warned that managing your business's finances can be daunting, "especially when you are trying to juggle your new business as well as family life".
