Business Bulletin – Core Strategy for Wokingham Council
Business in Wokingham Business Bulletin – Core Strategy

The Councils blueprint for the next 20 years, the Wokingham Borough’s Core Strategy has been submitted to the Secretary of State. Public consultation on the document took place between August and October 2008. The Core Strategy will now be considered by a government appointed inspector at an Examination in Public to be held in March 2009, with adoption due in mid 2009.

The Core Strategy sets out our plans for helping to maintain a buoyant economy and boost local employment areas. A vital part of this strategy is the work we need to complete to protect and enhance our towns and shopping centres by encouraging residents to use their local services and reduce their environmental footprint by using facilities closer to home.

The Core Strategy will also help to address the deficiencies we have in vital infrastructure such as roads, schools, parks and community facilities. It will enable the Council to manage where housing and other development will take place, helping us to build real communities and not just buildings.

If you would like a copy of the Core Strategy, please email andrew.nicholls@wokingham.gov.uk or phone Andy on 0118 974 6018.
