Local businessman Mark Bettridge picked up an absolute bargain today, just in time for England’s participation in this years World Cup in Germany.
Brett Tonkyn of Wembley Stadium has known England football shirts sell at auction for over £10,000. Mark, director of Swan iT recruitment in Chesham spotted the England shirt for sale on BusinessinBerkshire.co.uk and made a winning bid of just £600! He is not the only winner… all the money is being donated to MacMillan Cancer Relief. Jon Davey, editor of BusinessinBerkshire.co.uk (BinB), was approached by Brett at the end of October 2005 to see how he could help with creating awareness of Club Wembley. The England Shirt was offered for auction so Jon took it to the FSB in his capacity as chairman for East Berkshire. “The Thames Valley Region of the Federation of Small Businesses was holding it’s AGM in Henley with Boris Johnson as key note speaker. It made sense to launch the auction at the dinner and then allow others to bid via the Internet. On the night we achieved a high bid of £450 and reached our final total on the last day of bidding, 16th December 2005.
