Royals march on to Premiership |
||||||
Reading have continued their fantastic season with a 3-0 defeat of Luton and remain at the top of the Championship.
The Royals have one of the best records in the county having only lost once, an honour shared with Chelsea and only beaten by nearby Wycombe Wanderers who remain undefeated this season in League Two. However, Reading manager Steve Coppell is remaining cautious despite Luton boss Mike Newell backing them for promotion. Newell told the Royals' website: "They've got a good squad and a good team, and they're up now. Anybody's got money on them can cash their chips in." But Coppell still has the memories of last year when after Christmas the team faced a collapse and fell down the table eventually losing the chance to join the Premiership. He said: "I know that the pack behind us are very much feeling that we are going to slip up. I just don't want what happened last year to happen again." However, fans could be excused for being a little more confident with Reading having a four point lead over second place Sheffield United and being 14 points clear of third place Leeds. © Adfero 2005
