VW Camper Van - December News part 1

The VW Camper Company was launched in October 2005, just six weeks from its original inception /conception. When we drafted the business plan we realised we were approaching the winter and figured that we had ample time to gather bookings for next year, finish the refurbishment of our fleet of campervans and create some marketing materials and ‘nice add-ons’ for our new business.

However, we were flabbergasted and delighted that from almost day one of being ‘live’ we were taking real enquiries from potential customers wanting to go out in the campervans - immediately. We had to turn down customers as we were simply not ready!

People in the UK certainly seem to be adventurous, hardy and fun-loving. We have not had a moments rest, with customers going for a romantic beach weekend on the Gower Peninsular, a couple celebrating a birthday with a foodie weekend in gastronomic Ludlow, Shropshire and some serious hikers/walkers taking a camper to Scotland for a week’s outdoor adventuring. All of these have been during November and December and all have come back happy!

We keep hearing that this will be the coldest winter for many years but still the enquiries and bookings keep coming. Whilst the TV news showed pictures of a snow-bound Devon, we were taking a booking from a couple keen to spend a weekend on the Devon coast – in just two weeks time.

One question most customers have asked is, “is there a heater?” We’ve actually fitted the campers with brand-new specialist Propex caravan/boat heaters which run off the campers own gas supply (safe and very efficient). It seemed like a big investment at the time at over £500 each but at this rate they should pay for themselves before the winter is over.

At least one camper is out on hire over the Christamas period despite having no oven to cook the turkey and no TV for the Queens speech. More news in the New Year!
