Women’s Group Networking for Success
Independent Thames Valley based women’s group ‘Success Network’ celebrated its 2nd birthday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Marlow recently. An enthusiastic group of business women marked this special occasion with a birthday cake provided by Sarah Dafoe from ‘Sarah’s Sponges’ in Reading.
One of the attendees, Annie O’Neill from New Horizons Divorce Coaching, congratulates the organisers on the success of the Success Network and says “It was a lovely party. As usual, the event was brilliantly facilitated with a great mix of business and social networking. One of the best things about the Success Network is that the hosts Ute Wieczorek-King and Mary Fraser come up with some really interesting discussion topics, which really make people think and get them talking seriously about business issues.”
The Success Network members have indeed had a successful few months, as only a few weeks earlier they were able to raise £120 for the Macmillan cancer charity at a meeting held at HSBC bank in High Wycombe.
Ginette Gower of Big Fish Marketing has been attending the High Wycombe meetings since they first started at the beginning of 2007 and she says, “The Success Network gives women the opportunity to take a step back from hectic business lives and discuss and debate their challenges with other like minded women in an informal environment. I would certainly recommend the network to other women in the area.”
Founded just over two years ago by two Maidenhead based business women, Success Network has been offering innovative ways for women in business to create more meaningful connections.
One of the co-founders, Ute Wieczorek King, a business coach & trainer says “When we first started this group 2 years ago, my colleague Mary Fraser and I had been networking for a few years and we felt there was a need for an informal business women’s group that was open to all, with affordable attendance fees and free membership. It has been noted that people tend to support others and buy products and services from people they trust and with whom there is a strong sense of connection. Our meetings have an informal and friendly feel, yet offer a purposeful structure designed to make the process of building relationships easier.”
“Many women whether they run their own business or work in an organisation, share similar challenges”, adds Mary Fraser, an independent HR consultant. “We support women with their professional development by offering a different style of networking meeting, with small group discussions around business related topics. This style of meeting encourages women to share their business knowledge and experience and we all learn from each other.”
Moving away from the usual formal introductions, presentations, sales pitches and sit down meals, the Success Network’s morning and evening meetings in Reading, Marlow, High Wycombe and Oxford have been very well received by local business women as well as women from further afield.
Business women who would like to connect with other like-minded women and learn from each other, share knowledge and celebrate achievements, are most welcome to come and try one of the meetings. More details can be found on the website www.successnetwork.org.uk
