Closing date looms for business awards

The closing date for entries for this year’s prestigious Thames Valley Business Awards is fast approaching and there’s less than a month left for local companies to go for glory.

Already a record number of entries for all six categories has been received, but as the clock ticks down to Friday, September 26, the chance to take top honours is disappearing fast.

Some of the best known names in the Thames Valley are up against first-time entrants as they vie for titles in the region’s most prestigious and long-running awards event.

Awards chairman David Murray, said: “We’ve had a fantastic response this year, more entries than ever before. It’s as if companies are realising that in harder times, they really do need to shout louder about their products and services, both to ensure their customers know they are there and to help attract the best employees.

“The final three weeks in the run-up to the closing date always fly by, so I would urge anyone who still wants to enter, to register online and complete their form without delay.”

There’s also an added incentive for small businesses to enter, as the winner of the Small Business Award will receive a Regus Platinum Card, valued at £3,000, and the category finalists will receive a Regus Gold Card valued at £199.

The prizes will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony on November 20, at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre, Madejski Stadium, Reading, when guest of honour and keynote speaker will be former Foreign Secretary and deputy leader of the Labour Party, the Rt Hon Margaret Beckett MP.

The 2008 awards have six categories:
The Small Business Award – sponsored by Regus
The Business Management Team Award – sponsored by The Royal Bank of Scotland
The Innovation Award – sponsored by Slough Trading Estate
The Dynamic Business Award – sponsored by Deloitte
The Thames Valley Business of the Year Award – sponsored by Pitmans
The International Trade Award – sponsored by HiFX
