Viva Las Ascot!
A little less conversation and a lot more action as The King rocks Ascot!
Elvis had Ascot rocking on Saturday night as the glamour and glitz of Las Vegas came to Ascot Racecourse for one very special cause.
Guests revelled in the party atmosphere of the Las Vegas Ball held to celebrate Thames Hospicecare’s 20th anniversary. Television Presenter Peter Marshall hosted the massive fundraiser which is expected to have raised over £45,000 of very essential funds for the Hospice.
The popularity of the event meant that all 31 tables were taken with the very last table coincidentally being booked by some guests from Las Vegas itself!
The evening had its very own special magic courtesy of close up magicians Fay Presto, Laura London and Romany who entertained guests during the dinner. The auction that followed dinner contained lots that money just can’t buy, including a two-hour acting masterclass with Kenneth Branagh and a pair of exclusive Leicester Square Film Premiere tickets plus stay at the sumptuous Sheraton Belgravia. With a silent auction and tombola running throughout the evening there were plenty of opportunities for guests to show their support for the Hospice.
Those with money to spare after the auction could try their hand and luck at Blackjack and take a spin on the roulette tables at the Las Vegas Casino. Anyone with any energy left to burn could then dance to the early hours in the company of tribute artist Suspiciously Elvis, his ten piece band and the very beautiful Feather Girl Dancers.
Commenting on the evening’s success, Clive Nickolds, Chief Executive of Thames Hospicecare said:
“This has been a fantastic evening for the Hospice. The success is very much down to the months of organising and planning by the Hospice’s President’s Club. This committee of volunteers, and in particular Hilary 0’Rourke, have worked tirelessly in getting everything you see this evening off the ground from scratch. I would also like to express my thanks to everyone attending this evening, as well as to Peter Marshall, Rotaract of Langley and Iver, Ascot Racecourse and of course all the Hospice staff and volunteers who have helped make our 20th anniversary Ball so very special.”
