The best possible care.
Thames Hospicecare
For over 20 year the county of East Berkshire and the surrounding counties have had the enormous benefit of being served by two outstanding Charities – Thames Valley Hospice and Paul Bevan Cancer Foundation.

In those twenty years much has changed in both the nature of the care being provided and latterly by the merger of the two Charities to form Thames Hospicecare, but one thing that has not changed is the quality of care provided by our team of professionals.

As we enter our third decade our responsibility is to secure our future for the next generation and to continue to adapt to the ever changing world in which we live. Medical advances continue apace and people are living much longer with diagnoses that a few years ago would have been much more life limiting. This impacts upon our role as a Hospice and the nature of the care we provide.

Care in the community becomes more of a focus and and sharing our expertise in other areas grows in importance. We already work very closely with health care professionals from the NHS and these relationships will continue to be very important to us.

The other relationship crucial to our continuing success is that with our thousands of supporters across the region. Without them Thames Hospicecare would not have developed so successfully over the last twenty years. With them it will also continue to thrive over the next twenty.

Our thanks to all our supporters for their unstinting support and a welcome to all new supporters who will help us make sure Thames Hospicecare is there for the next twenty years and beyond.

Our latest event is just being launched, the THc Sunrise Walk and we are getting really excited about it as the registration forms are starting to pour in. Registration is takes place from 5.00 a.m., walkers will walk through Old Windsor into Windsor Great Park as the sun rises over the town, to raise funds for the Hospice. Who funds Thames Hospicecare?
As a registered charity, Thames Hospicecare relies almost entirely upon voluntary contributions in order to continue its vital work. Around 75of our funds have to be raised from voluntary contributions with Primary Care Trust grants accounting for around 25% of operating costs. This balance of funding emphasises the crucial importance of our supporters in safeguarding the Hospice’s future.

We rely on the help of the local community through the generous time of volunteers, income from our high street shops, the Hospice Lottery, donations from individuals, legacies and the support of local fundraising groups, local clubs, businesses, schools, colleges and churches.
