Why UK Businesses Love VoIP
VoIP technology (Voice over Internet Protocal) has become a clear favourite with UK businesses thanks to its low cost and high quality service according to a recent survey.
In a recent survey conducted by Business Intelligence, 256 UK firms were asked why they had chosen to switch to VoIP. Over 50% claimed cost savings were their primary reason although many organisations added that business benefits were also a big attraction.
The companies that regard VoIP as more than just a replacement phone system seem to recognise the benefits of VoIP in terms of increased customer service levels and efficiency. The technology also provides a springboard towards more flexible working, cross-company communications, and remote teleworking.
Perhaps surprisingly, security did not appear to be a high priority, with most companies claiming quality of service as their main concern – closely followed by ease of compatibility between different manufacturers’ products.
The survey highlighted that larger organisations tended to encounter more staff resistance to changing over to VoIP telephony, whilst smaller firms (turnover below £1 million) were keener to embrace the technology. Teleworking featured strongly as a priority with this group too.
It seems most users are more than happy with VoIP, with over 60% saying it had achieved all the benefits they had expected.
