VoIP 'popular due to flexibility'
A large number of small and medium-sized businesses are starting to use Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology because it offers greater flexibility, according to an expert at Telappliant.

Moreover, the modern technology enables firms to cut down on running costs and also improve mobility, the organisation claimed.

Chief executive at Telappliant Tan Aksoy said that with an internet connection, operating can become a lot easier.

"Another reason is for mobility. With VoIP you can have a virtual office anywhere in the world, as long as you have an internet connection, you can have … a 'virtual presence' wherever you are," he commented.

He added that VoIP is the future of business because it offers converged communications channels.

VoIP refers to the way in which calls are made over a broadband internet connection.

Earlier this month, Symantec said that the new Veritas CommandCentral 5.0 range should help companies achieve a greater level of data storage.
