Device 'could improve computer security'
A new IT security application has been announced by the software firm Symantec, news that may be welcomed by company directors.

The new NetBackup 6.5 tool is designed to offer data protection and can be used across any platform and this will boost usability, the company claims.

Recently, the firm announced the deployment of the Veritas NetBackup system and the new feature has been made to complement the system.

Symantec says that Veritas NetBackup is a next generation product and unites a number of key support channels such as continuous data protection.

NetBackup aims to make the entire deployment of a security system simpler for businesses, as they may previously been reluctant to implement confusing solutions, claims Symantec.

Now new possibilities have been opened up, according to group president of data centre management at Symantec Kris Hagerman.

"NetBackup 6.5 enables customers to unlock the full potential of disk for increased flexibility and performance in backup and recovery, while providing a single platform to manage across all the exciting new technologies driving the next generation of data protection," he commented.

IT firm Data Robotics recently announced it has developed a robot called Drobo that can be plugged into a computer to store important data.
