St George's Day Raffle

Business in Berkshire has commissioned a print of a painting of Windsor Castle by BinB member Dennis Blandford which is being used to raise money for two good causes in our St George’s Day Rafffle.

Windsor Castle Print

Buy a £1 ticket from Blossom's and one lucky winner will win the print on display above and in real life at the Chinese takeaway.

Jon Davey, Social Media Director @ Business in Berkshire, looking to boost the profile of local artists, community groups and other member businesses needed a simple mechanism that can have the maximum impact.

"I met Dennis at Windsor & Eton Rotary where we are both members. We’ve done some work together and I bought the actual painting he did of Windsor Castle which looks magnificent when the sun shines on it!”

“Sally walks her dogs on Windsor Great Park and a few years ago her son worked with me on our On this day in history website. This year he’s up for journalist of the year, obviously I take some credit for his success!! Sally’s youngest was injured in Afghanistan and so she has decided to do a sponsored walk across the Sahara for Help for Hero’s and this seemed a way for me to help.”

“To appreciate artwork you need to see it, even if it is a print, and so a local takeaway makes total sense as we all have to eat! Also, hundreds of locals will visit Blossom’s every week and some will buy a ticket to help our causes.”

All the money raised will go to two good local causes...
  • Business in Berkshire are closely associated with New Windsor Eagles U10's football team and they are always in need for funds for equipment, kit and away tournaments. The team adopted the Eagles from our links with the local army barracks where we have trained during the winter for the last few years.

  • Another BinB Member, Sally Amoore, is currently raising money for Help for Heros by walking across the Sahara. Sally son was injured by a landmine in Afghanistan.

  • The print has been kindly produced by XpressArt, Maidenhead

All you need to do is buy a raffle ticket for £1 from Blossom's Chinese Restaurant, Dedworth Road, Windsor where the print is on display for all to see.

The money raised will be split equally between the local football team and Sally's Sahara walk.

Tickets will be sold from Week commencing 15th March through till the close of business on St George's Day, Friday 23rd April 2010.

The winner will be announced on Saturday 24th April 2010.
