The Consumer Protection Regulations
New selling rules enforced
Slough Borough Council Trading Standards team will enforce a new law to protect consumers from unfair selling practices.
The Consumer Protection Regulations (CPR’s) comes into place on May 26 2008 and will protect against 31 various styles of sales techniques such as prize draw scams, fake closing down sales and other types of aggressive sales methods.
The new regulations are set to close up loopholes that traders have previously been exploiting. The CPR’s hope to achieve this by using a much simpler frame work for its regulation’s in order to better protect the rights of the consumer.
Trading Standards are confident that with these new laws in place they will be in a better position to do their job and be able to further crack down on rouge traders.
Due to the simplified frame work of these new laws rogue traders will have no excuses when it comes to flouting the law, which means safer con free transactions for the consumer.
