Consumer opinion most effective marketing tool
Consumer opinion is the best marketing tool for companies to use, a new report has said.
Conducted by Nielsen, the research showed that consumers will trust the opinions of their peers over other forms of advertising, eMarketer reports.
Senior analyst at eMarketer Aho Williamson comments that firms could utilise the power of peer reviews on their websites.
"The fact that consumers think opinions posted online are as trustworthy as brand websites speaks to the power of online reviews and recommendations," she remarks.
She adds that companies should focus on the reviews as much as the actual creation of a website.
Ms Williamson comments to the publication: "The easiest thing to do is to make consumer feedback an essential part of every brand website."
The news source notes that similar studies have produced the same results, with GFK Roper Consulting finding word of mouth to be the most successful form of marketing.
The Internet Advertising Bureau recently announced that online ad spending in the UK has increased.
