Firms 'utilising web for marketing'
The presence the internet has in marketing campaigns is becoming increasingly important, according to new research from enterprise content management company Interwoven and reported by Information World Review.
Its report claims that IT departments are starting to lose power as businesses recognise the benefits online marketing can have for a company.
A spokesman said that firms are beginning to fully maximise the power of the web as a marketing tool, with less emphasis now being placed on traditional modes such as radio and television.
Interwoven's chief marketing officer Ben Kiker said that the internet is now a vital pathway in which to conduct both marketing, branding and business.
"In doing this they are rebuilding their online presence. Their first sites were destination sites for information about the business; now the web is a channel of business," he commented.
He added that marketing departments are reasserting themselves in a bid to maximise potential market dominance. Web marketing can make a brand stand out from the crowd, claims the company.
