Queen sees grandson's christening
Queen sees grandson's christening
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh attended the christening of Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex’s son James Alexander Philip Theo (also their youngest grandchild).
The four months old baby, James Alexander Philip Theo, has been given the title Viscount Severn at the ceremony which took place at Windsor Castle in a private chapel with the Rt Rev David Conner, (Dean of Windsor), conducting the service.
James's godparents Denise Poulton, Jeanye Irwin, Alastair Bruce, Duncan Bullivant and Tom Hill were present.
James was wearing a satin and lace royal christening gown, (replica of which was made in 1841 and had been used for every royal christening until this one). The new robe was commissioned by the Queen in order to preserve the original.
Eighth in line to the throne, James is the first male grandchild for the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh since the birth of Prince Harry.
James is the couple's second child (their daughter, Lady Louise Windsor, is now 4) and was born at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey weighing in at 6lb 2oz.
