Top fund raising tip for schools |
We are so happy that the sale went well. Isabelle watched the DVD last night - it's very moving. She has taken it in to school now. Isabelle is keen that other schools have a go too and is happy to go along to Windsor First Scools with your DVD and explain how to organise a similar sale.
In case you do speak to other schools: The sale was easy to organise, a note going out to parents the week before in the newsletter and with lots of parents donating toys and sending their children with £2 on the day of the sale. A couple of mums spent around an hour sorting the toys and 5 mums helped man the stalls. So basically the only time requirement from helpers is and hour before the sale and then an hour selling and counting up. I also think it was a good time of year for this kind of sale as everyone wants to have a sort out after christmas. Suprisingly every toy was sold! One thing we would change is the way we collected the donations. We charged random 50p or 20p, but would suggest collecting the £2 at the door in exchange for a carrier bag and then the child fills the bag with a toy from each of 5 tables - up to 5 toys. This also saves time. A lot of the children didn't spend their £2, either because they were too confused or just saw 1 item that interested them, but I'm sure their parents would want the donation to be taken for such a good cause. I think if we had done it this way we could have almost doubled our donation. Thanks again for your support Angeline and Isabelle |
