Slough Championship Quiz
Winners of the Slough Championship Quiz, ‘The Regulars’, are from l to r, Anne Greigg, Quizmaster Terry Pattinson, President of Slough Rotary, Roger Home, Martin Trepte presenting the cup to Barry Hewitt, with David Greigg behind and David Trace partially hidden, Patricia Powell, James Knight, Jo Averson and Michael Roberts.

A group of friends from Ashford, Hampton and Windsor, known as ‘The Regulars’, were the outright winners in Slough Rotary’s inaugural Slough Championship Quiz Night. In a packed ballroom at the Slough & Windsor Copthorne Hotel on Friday 11th September 23 teams competed for the Slough Express perpetual trophy. Showman and quizmaster Terry Pattinson, a member of the Rotary Club of Slough hosted the event which raised over £2000 for Slough Rotary charities. The Quiz Night was attended by many of Slough’s personalities including Slough MP Fiona McTaggart, prospective conservative candidate for Slough, Diana Coad, and former mayor of Slough, David Mc Isaac.

President of Slough Rotary, Roger Home said at the prize giving, “I am delighted that the Slough Quiz Championship was a sell-out, it was also great fun with Terry’s banter and repartee encouraging generous support throughout. The large sum raised is a credit to the organising team and all those competing for the trophy”.

Asked how his team was able to win such a convincing victory, Barry Hewitt, known as their ‘guiding light’ rather than captain, said, “We are all well travelled and well read but we are also able to select from a wide group, all of whom enjoy church, pub and charity quizzes”.
