Rotary Club - High blood pressure on the Royal Wedding day

On the day of the Royal Wedding, the Rotary Club was in the thick of it. Now in it's third year, over 600 people have been tested for high blood pressure in Windsor on Stroke Awareness Day. The Rotary Club and The Stroke Association worked in partnership for the third year running to help combat high blood pressure, the single biggest risk factor for stroke.

For every ten people who die of stroke, four could have been saved if they had arranged regular blood pressure measurements and then followed medical advice. There are often no symptoms of high blood pressure, so these measurements are vitally important, particularly as more than 130,000 people suffer a first stroke each year.

Stroke is the largest single cause of severe disability in England and Wales, with over 250,000 people being affected at any one time.
