Public speaking
A good public speaker is confident and outgoing with a speech that is underpinned by excellent research and solid background preparation. Public speaking skills are seen by employers as key attributes in graduates, as they illustrate a young person’s confidence and maturity.
Wider key skills learning teaches young people the skills needed to be a confident and well-prepared public speaker and develops their self-confidence so that they feel able to present in front of a group. The public speaking training in The Working Knowledge Group’s Ride the Wave programme is specifically developed to nurture young people’s confidence and communication skills. By taking a presentation skills training course, young people will become more employable and better able to cope with social and business situations after they graduate. Advanced communication skills, including public speaking, are immensely valuable to young people and make up a central part of wider key skills learning.
