Carbon Saving Certificate
Renaissance Reading Hotel saves 13174 mature trees
The four star Renaissance Reading Hotel was delighted to receive a Carbon Saving Certificate from ENERG.G last week in recognition of their 2007 campaign.
Mark Hill (Chief Engineer) explained: The hotel had fitted a Combined Heating and Power Gas Turbine Engine. This engine generates heat which in turns heats water and produces electricity through a generator.”
David Berry (Sales Manager) explained “Slowing climate change is one of the planets greatest challenges. Currently UK businesses and public sector organizations are responsible for around all UK carbon emissions. Many of our clients are becoming more aware of green strategies being introduced by hotels to help save the planet and this assists them in choosing where to stay.
We are committed both as a company and an individual hotel to help save the planet and this is why we are taking these steps.”
The hotel also uses other energy saving light bulbs, towel re-use programme and paper recycling to name just a few.
Due to their 2007 efforts the combined heat and power unit alone saved 86 tonnes of CO2 which is equivalent to a forest of 13174 mature trees.
