Two Newbury companies are presenting a portrait exhibition focused on those connected with life in the town.
Breathe Pictures is a portrait photography company specialising in character work. The Best of Newbury is a fresh and exciting website serving the residents of Newbury with business information, news and local events. Run by local people for local people and supporting local business. Eligible sitters for this exhibition will need to work or live in Newbury. The objective is to photograph a minimum of 200 people over 18 years of age, to include all walks of life; teachers, publicans, retailers, mothers, fathers, people with a history or story. In many respects we plan to photograph the unphotographed; characters that would not usually appear in a portrait exhibition. The pictures are a mixture of formal, informal, eccentric and humorous. Every sitter will have five minutes in front of the camera, and answer a question they randomly pick from a ‘hatful of questions.’ Portraits are currently being shot and compiled, although there will be a mobile studio at the Corn Exchange on Saturday 30th September in the Balcony Bar between 10am and 6pm, when anyone eligible is welcome to sit for five minutes. The exhibition will be on display at the Corn Exchange between the 3rd and 19th November and then subsequently in smaller displays at various venues in the town.
