Council 'to relocate to fresh property'
New, modern facilities are being promised after Newham Council announced that it is to move back office staff to new property.
The council says that it will be able to improve the overall level of service after the relocation to the Building 1000, which is off Royal Albert Way, in spring next year, in news reported by Property Week.
When the move is made, staff are set to take up residence in 161,000 sq ft of space in the new building owned by Standard Life and Development Securities.
According to the publication, it has so far been difficult for the duo of companies to let the building.
Interim chief executive at Newham Council Chris Wood stated that the development should help workers.
He added that employees would benefit as it would aid "staff faced with working in increasingly inferior office accommodation", the paper reported.
Purchase of the property will become possible after special arrangements for borrowing from internal savings from efficiency, the council stated.
Newham Council said the area is at the forefront of development for the 2012 Olympic Games.
