Green Party Conference 2008
This year the Green Party will be holding their national conference in Reading.

Over 500 people are expected to attend the convention which is being held in the town hall over the next few days. (14th - 17th February 2008).

Rob White, a potential candidate for Park ward at this year’s local election, opened the conference on Thursday discussing what the Green Party has been up to in Reading.

He said that one of the reasons Reading was chosen was because of the good links it has to London. South East Euro MP, Caroline Lucas, will also speak at the conference.

Debates including in the conference will feature the party’s energy policy and their stance on climate change. International issues will also be on the agenda.

There will be a comedy night and on Saturday, George Marshall, writer and founder of the charity Climate Outreach and Information Network, will speak about his most recent book, Carbon Detox.

All events are open to the public. However, there is a £2 entry fee.

The comedy night and Mr Marshall’s talk are also open to the public and free to attend.
