The ship had originally been discovered by writer and diving enthusiast Alexander McKee in 1971, . 1983 The last hand-cranked telephones in the US went out of service as 440 customers in Bryant Pond, Maine were switched to the modern dial service. 1988 For the first time in 446 years girls were allowed to study at Magdalen College, Cambridge. 1992 Concorde took off from Lisbon in an attempt to break the round-the-world record of 35 hours 8 minutes.
