The smashing Pumpkins perform for the last time at The Metro in Chicago, which was effectively where their career had started 12 years previously.
At the concert, the band gave out free recordings of their first recorded concert at The Metro in 1988. However, in April 2006, the band officially announced a reunion and claimed that they had already started writing songs.
The band was one of the most commercially successful bands of the 1990s but broke up due to internal squabbling, drug abuse and falling sales. They had sold over 25 million records worldwide by 2000.
