Philip Larkin was a British writer and Jazz critic, Larkin was one of the ‘Movement’ poets who rebelled against the type of modernism found in the works of earlier poets such as T.S Eliot.
He spent most of his writing life as a librarian at Hull University, where he remained until his death. Larkin refused the Poet Laureate after John Betjeman died because he claimed that his poetic muse had permanently fled from him.
