1939 Douglas Fairbanks
Fairbanks was an American actor famous for his role in silent movies such as ‘The Mark of Zorro,’ ‘Robin Hood’ and ‘The Three Musketeers.’
To avoid being controlled by Hollywood studios, Fairbanks had set up his own production company, later strengthening his position against the studios by forming ‘United Artists’ along with Charlie Chaplin. At the time, Fairbanks was the third highest earning actor in the world.
Fairbanks had a heart attack in December and died the next day in his sleep on December 12.
