1941 Dionne Warwick
Warwick is a soul singer best known for her work with songwriter Burt Bacharach, who helped her release her first single ‘Don’t Make Me Over.’

She began her singing career as a backing-singer with Dinah Washington, a Jazz legend in her own right.

The song that lifted Warwick’s career into a different realm was the Burt Bacharach written ‘Walk On By.’

The song ‘Anyone Who hHad a Heart’ was covered by UK artist Cilla Black and reached number one in Black’s home country much to the annoyance of Warwick who was told by British record labels that they preferred her songs to be song by other people for release in the UK.
