About Nigel
Nigel Temple is a marketing consultant, trainer, speaker and author. He is a Faculty Member and Course Director with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), the world's largest professional marketing body.
Nigel is a licensed trainer in Tony Buzan's Mind Mapping and Learning-to-Learn systems. His office was across the corridor from Tony's, for five years. They used to talk about the meaning of life, the human brain and the future of mankind. Nigel learnt a lot from Tony; this was probably not reciprocal.
Nigel holds an honours degree in marketing, from Greenwich University. Originally trained to sell by Rank Xerox, he spent
four years selling high technology in central London. This involved a lot of walking and real life experience of handling objections. Objections such as: "I'm gonna give you 5 seconds to git off mah property or I'm gonna git mah 45 and a shovel."
This is probably why Nigel built such a strong aversion to cold calling. (The winters were cold back then I tell you).
He subsequently worked as a copywriter - writing press releases, articles, brochures, direct mail letters and advertisements.
As an experienced marketing speaker, Nigel always carefully tailors each presentation to the needs of his client. His average seminar / conference delegate satisfaction rating is 93%.
Nigel was born in Tanzania. Mr Temple senior was a veterinary surgeon. Sadly, his son was never destined for this august
career - on the basis that he faints at the sight of blood.
An avid (aphid?) reader from an early age, Nigel is happy to study bus tickets, advertising hoardings, messages on T shirts and the smudged lettering found on franked envelopes.
All that readin' meant that Nigel now can't stop writin'. His newsletter, The Marketing Mentor, has over 2,000 subscribers. His first book, on writing words for websites, was published by Hodder & Stoughton. His second book, on the secrets of client attraction, will be published by Words at Work in the autumn of 2007.
