Building your business network using online & offline marketing
For many years now I have been suggesting to new business men and women that they start a network of their own. This way they build a profile around their network which directly relates to the nature of their business.
Let’s take one of today’s popular options for those leaving the corporate world. Many become coaches, I’ll avoid the word “life” coach, as that brings in too many flowers! A coach works 1 on 1 with an individual to help them build their confidence so they can go on to greater things. Some teach formulae that if followed, provide a greater level of success but essentially they build self belief.
There are hundreds of coaches out there but if you are going to get personal with someone, tell someone what is bugging you and preventing you moving forward, then you need to have to trust the individual and feel they are on the same page as you. And similarly, the coach needs to feel confident that his/her student is going to follow their guidance and do great things or what’s the point? It can’t all be about cash or they would have stayed with the corporate job.
To get people to connect with you then they need to know you are there. How are you going to tell them? Get in front of the right people at the right time?
To get one person to turn up you’ll need to connect to 100 people properly, so 1,000 need to know a few sentences about what you do and 10,000 need to see the title! Working alone this will take time. Working with a partner this will take half the time. Working with a group of 6 coaches it will take 1/6th of the time. It’s basic mathematics and business is a numbers game. You are not going to click with all of the people all of the time so get 60 people to turn up, each coach could end up with 2 new clients. It’s then down to the cost of acquisition and the margin that determines the type of event and venue.
Whatever your business you need to be talking to those in your market who you feel you can trust and you then need to be organising the right events to attract the right type of customers. You need to hold them on a regular basis so the momentum can be built and a business funnel built.
We are able to connect you to other like-minded individuals and also assist with the promotion of your networking events. Please call 01753 852904 and we’ll point you in the right direction.
