Mobile Working is Increasing
According to a study by Sony Ericsson, mobile working is gaining in popularity although some firms still have concerns over security of mobile devices. Over half the UK workforce works away from the office environment at least once a week.
There has been a 25% increase in mobile working during the last year. Around 50% of survey participants access the net via their mobile. Indeed a similar survey by Visto anticipated 70% of mobile workers will be using remote email by the end of 2007.
Around 82% of medium to large companies expressed concern over security and data issues relating to mobile devices. However, a similar percentage recognised the fact that offering mobile working to employees helps increase morale, productivity, efficiency, and motivation.
A spokesman for Sony said "The mobile working [trend] seems to be increasing all the time. It's partly down to greater workloads and partly that people are managing their time more effectively."
