Want to Attract More Traffic?
Many of my recent projects have revolved around writing search-engine friendly website content for clients who are realising it’s a more cost-effective way of driving traffic than Pay-Per-Click or linking campaigns. Keyword-rich content can really make a difference to search engine traffic and it has the added benefit of allowing you to target a fairly broad sweep of keywords and phrases – something which can soon get expensive when using other SEO methods.
So can quality written content really help entice those search engines? It can, and it works particularly well for ‘low-competition’ and unique search terms (typically longer phrases incorporating a specific keyword – ‘web content writer in Berkshire’ rather than simply ‘copywriter’ for example). A page of well-written keyword-rich content is very likely to bring in search engine traffic and to illustrate this point, let me refer to a recent case study.
Launched in September last year, MiniMoonsailors is an online shop specialising in children’s holiday gear (UV swimwear, beach robes, sunhats and so on). There are no physical shop premises – all the business is done online – so it’s imperative that the site is easily found by all major search engines, across a wide range of search terms.
Since January I’ve been adding pages of content (200-250 words each) focusing on individual products and since then, MiniMoonsailors has been enjoying a steadily growing stream of visitors. In December, the site was averaging between 40 and 50 hits per day. Just 2 months later, the site is receiving between 300 and 400 hits per day, with a staggering 900 hits on a recent Sunday.
Checking the site statistics, it’s clear this traffic has brought an add-on benefit too: type-in traffďc has increased significantly and repeat visitors are coming back again and again. A loyal customer base is gradually being established.
All of this as a result of carefully written information-packed content geared to the needs of search engine marketing. If you think your website could benefit from some rewriting, please feel free to get in touch for further discussion.
