1662 The first recorded 'Punch & Judy' show in Britain was presented by Pietro Gimonde at Convent Garden, London, as recorded in the diary of Samual Pepys.

1671 Irish adventurer Colonel Thomas Blood and a band of accomplices attempted to steal the Crown Jewels from the Tower of London, but were apprehended soon after making their way out of the Tower.
