The Networking Zoo
The networking world is a fascinating place so many examples of different creatures roaming the streets and attending meetings. Its amazing how well all these animals are able to cohabit and get along or do they?
So what creatures are out there in the Networking Zoo?
Here are a few examples that you might recognise in your travels:
1. The Butterfly flits from meeting to meeting, sniffing for pollen and never really settling down anywhere
2. The Seagull swoops in, takes what it wants and leaves
3. The Elephant trustworthy and caring with a long memory and able to recall useful information
4. The Dolphin prepared to jump through hoops for you but does need some rewards thrown its way now and then
My point is this as in any animal habitat, there exists the law of the jungle. In the context of networking, people will display their habits and behaviours to others and this will impact on the way that they are received by those around them. Generally, this occurs very subconsciously and we are unaware of the impact we have on others unless it is pointed out to us. The perception that others have about you plays a large part in future dealings you may have with them and people they talk to.
So, I leave you to ponder two questions:
1. What type of networking animal are you?
2. Is there anything we can do about the way we are perceived by others?
Happy Networking
