Ever had one of those days when you had something to work on and you just didn’t know where to start? You sat in front of the PC screen and sat and looked at the screen and it looked back at you … you experienced the ‘can’t think, brain dumb, inspiration won’t come’ syndrome? It happens …the creativity flow stops flowing!
Well last week I attended ‘the Art of Intuition’ a workshop run by two colleagues of mine. I’ve never really considered myself much of an artist and as this wasn’t a pre-requisite for the workshop I was somewhat intrigued about what the day would bring for me. I turned up at the beautiful old Bix Manor outside Henley with my sense of wonderment and an old shirt of my husband’s. …as per joining instructions. Those of you without husbands – any old shirt will do! The day was very relaxed and fun with a small group of people … and such creativity within the group. We painted, relaxed a little, painted some more, discussed topics such as creativity, the influences this had on what we do and how we use it. We looked at the part intuition plays in our work and our thinking. Much of this was beautifully demonstrated in the work we produced. At the end of the day we each gathered our own ‘works of art’ to take home to display alongside the other ‘great works of art’ by the younger members of the family. Although, not quite ready for an exhibition at The Tate this time…. I can say that all in all it was a most enjoyable day. I left Bix Manor feeling very relaxed and inspired and I’m very happy to recommend such a day for some ‘me time’ and creative thinking. I know Pat and Angela have some workshops scheduled for later this year. Mary Fraser |
