A Breath of Fresh Air
|
Hello everyone,
"A Breath of Fresh Air" will be performed for one night only, on Sunday 15th June, at the open-air theatre at Hall Barn. The grounds open at 5.30pm, for theatre-goers to enjoy a picnic in the stunning grounds, which are not usually open to the public, before the performance at 7.30pm. The show¹s cast of 30 talented performers will present song and dance routines including a selection from A Little Night Music, other songs, sketches, and readings. This show was the brainchild of Duncan MacDougall, a local man whose life was saved through the expertise of medical staff at Wexham Park hospital, coupled with the fortuitous availability of a ventilator. Duncan was demonstrating the use of a sailing emergency flare when it exploded in his hands, causing horrendous injuries. Now happily well on the way to recovery after many months of specialist care, Duncan, whose work as a voice artist has given him many contacts in the theatrical world has brought together a group of extraordinary talents. All of these artists are giving their time freely to help raise the £36,000 to buy another ventilator, which the hospital desperately needs. Because many of the cast have professional commitments, we weren't sure who would be in the show until a few days ago. Now we know! However, that only leaves less than 3 weeks to sell 600 tickets. Please can you: 1. Forward the e-mail with all the details to your friends, following up with a phone call where possible. Encourage them to make up a party for the evening! 2. Send this e-mail out on any mailing lists to which you have access, church group, choir, playgroup, schools, and gyms. PLEASE HELP 3. Make sure everyone you work with knows about it, and is encouraged to come. I really believe that for a show like this, we can shift the tickets in short order - especially as they are only £10. Please support Duncan in this, Wexham Park saves lives & could save more with this ventilator. Thanking you in advance, Lesley Joseph (Birds of a Feather)? Geoffrey Palmer (As Time Goes By)? Sarah Kestelman (RSC)? Dean Chisnall (now starring in the Take That musical, Never Forget)? That time has come! They are all appearing with a cast of 30 others at Hall Barn, in Beaconsfield, for one night only, Sunday, 15th June, in a revue called A Breath of Fresh Air, directed by Michael Vivian (a professional director of musical theatre). Tickets from Chiltern Shakespeare box office 08700 667720 Lesley Joseph is best known for her portrayal of Dorian Green in Birds of a Feather, while Geoffrey Palmer¹s role opposite Judi Dench in As Time Goes By made him a household name. Sarah Kestelman, whose distinguished career includes periods with the Royal Shakespeare Company and at the National Theatre, now teaches at the Central School of Speech and Drama. They will be joined by one of the newest stars of the West End. Dean Chisnall has just opened in Never Forget, playing the Gary Barlow character, Ash Sherwood, in this tribute to the band Take That. Their backdrop is the set for Chiltern Shakespeare¹s A Midsummer Night¹s Dream which is playing from 11th -14th and 18th ¬ 21st June. It will doubtless bring back memories for Lesley Joseph and Sarah Kestelman, who have both played Titania. Tickets, priced just £10 are available from the Chiltern Shakespeare Box Office on 08700 667720. All seats are in the covered auditorium. There is ample car parking. A bar will be open throughout the evening and after the show. Please bring your own picnic.
