Blue Chelsea fan
Hi to everyone,
Woke up a little blue as I'm a Chelsea fan, but the day quickly improved. I met the sales manager of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Marlow, Stephen Mileham, at a business networking breakfast meeting. He's very interested in getting the hotel more involved with the community and believes linking up with MarlowFM is an ideal way to do it. He's offered the use of their venues/meeting rooms etc for any fundraising events we want to organise which is great because there aren't a lot of suitable places available in Marlow.. So MarlowFM supporter and Sunday evening presenter David Barry's idea to arrange a 'black tie' dinner and dance fundraiser for the station could have the perfect setting. Stephen has also agreed to us doing a regular road show and broadcasting their Jazz Sunday concerts live online. First one will be Sunday July 6th. Elaine Mulvaney, one of the new owners of Venture Photography in Marlow, has asked us to provide the music for their official launch coming up soon. You will have noticed more changes to the web site if you've been there recently with the addition of a road show page listing future events and a photo gallery of past events. We're also going to be running a regular photo caption competition to win yourself a MarlowFM limited edition T-shirt. MarlowFM badges and window stickers will be available as from next week for the price of a stamped, self addressed envelope (UK residents only for now). The Marlow Round Table asked if we'd provide the musical backdrop to the May Fayre in Higginson's Park this Saturday. Phil Evans and I have agreed to give Tim a weekend off (although he will be setting everything up and making sure all the rubber bands are taut before he leaves us to it). We've got mixed feelings at the moment as it will be our first time behind the mic for about a year, but I'm sure it will be fun. If you've sent in your Jukebox Classics, listen in as your selection may well be aired between 11.00am - 5.00pm this Saturday. An excellent article in the Advertiser out today about MarlowFM, but don't hold your breath for seeing any decent coverage in the Marlow Free Press. As always, keep the buzz... Cheers, Paul. P.S. Almost forgot. I'm just about to make my way to Wembley Arena to see Robert Plant & Alison Krauss in concert, with the excellent Scott Matthews in support. My gig review blog will be up on the web site as soon as I can manage to write it up. Don't forget to go there and contribute yourself... on absolutely anything you like! |
