Hi to all the 'Friends of MarlowFM',
You're probably all wishing for summer to start proper, as am I. Well make the most of any sunny days in May as we all know that come Wimbledon fortnight we're destined for torrential rain Looks promising for the weekend at the moment, so I've packed most of the jumpers away and got the T-shirts out (those that still fit that is!). Talking of which, I'm going to be producing a limited number of 'MarlowFM Online' branded T-shirts or polo shirts to help promote the fact that we will be broadcasting online until we get our FM licence (visuals attached). It also struck me that if the MarlowFM Roadshow was going to be appearing at several events in and around Marlow, those staffing/helping out at the events ought to be recognisably 'MarlowFM Crew', particularly in any photographs destined to be in the local papers. As we still have no marketing budget as yet, I'm afraid I would have to ask anyone who would like one to cover the cost (and postage if I can't drop it off to you or you can't collect). I'm still waiting for confirmation on prices as I've added 2 colour print to the back since I had the initial quotes done, but I expect T-shirts to be around the £8-10.00 mark and printed polo shirts £10-12.00. Embroidered polo shirts will be approx. £15.00. (Prices + VAT) These prices are for sizes between XS-XL - I'm still waiting for prices on 2XL & 3XL as these aren't stock items. You'll also see a car/window sticker and a button badge design in the attached PDF. The stickers are definitely going to be produced but I'm still trying to negotiate a sponsorship deal for the badges. If you'd like to send me a DL sized stamped self addressed envelope, I will send you a sticker and hopefully a badge as well once I have them. I've struck another sponsorship deal with Signcraft (see http://www.signcraft.co.uk/index.htm) who are happy to supply all our signs, banners and vehicle graphics that we need. Professional Print Services of Marlow Bottom are providing all our stationery requirements and I'll shortly have some generic business cards to give to those of you who have offered to help with marketing and sales. Once we've 'firmed up' our advertising and sponsorship rates, I'll be designing a pack to leave with potential advertisers that will hold inserts listing the rates, audience demographics... in fact all the info they will need to be persuaded to sign up. Actually, if any of you can think of any companies or have any contacts with enterprises who you feel would be worth approaching to discuss sponsorship possibilities then please let me know. I'd like to get a company or companies to sponsor the T-shirts & polo shirts so I could order a larger quantity as I'd like to be able to give them away as prizes at the roadshows. At the moment, I suspect it will just be the stickers and badges. Anyway, got to make a trip to Strings to buy a violin book for my daughter Isabella, do the supermarket shop on the way back and then attack the jungle which once upon a time was our back garden. As a Chelsea supporter, I'm obviously rooting for West Ham today and hoping Newcastle's'run of good form ends on Monday! Oh, nearly forgot. See reply from Ofcom below. I asked when they would be inviting bids for the frequencies for East, South East & London. Later in the year is not very specific, but I take it to mean it won't be soon that's for sure. if you're really keen, you can follow the link and subscribe to their updates. Until the next time... Keep spreading the word about MarlowFM. Cheers, Paul. Dear Mr Mansell Thank you for your enquiry. Due to the number of applicants from the previous regions and the ongoing work on frequency availability, we do not currently have dates set for when groups can apply for a licence in the London and the south east; it is likely to be later this year. Once the dates are in place, Ofcom will issue a statement through its website (as we do not contact individuals directly to inform them of the dates for inviting applications). Therefore it would be advisable to subscribe to Ofcom¹s broadcasting updates: www.ofcom.org.uk/static/subscribe/broadcasting.htm www.marlowfm.co.uk |
