Have you set your New Years resolutions yet?
The top 10 New Years resolutions are:-
1. Lose weight.
2. Stop smoking.
3. Stick to a budget.
4. Save more money.
5. Find a better job.
6. Become more organized.
7. Exercise more.
8. Be more patient at work/with others.
9. Eat better.
10. Become a better person. (A little open ended this one)
But New Years day has been and gone. The sound of (wet) fireworks is now fading in our ears, and the pounding headache born of far too much partying the night before is starting to become a memory.
How many of the top 10 (above) did you set, and how many others have you added?
How many did you set last year, and how many didn't happen?
How are you going to make sure you achieve more this year?
Many of these are as relevant to business as they are to individuals, and I'm sure you can think of loads more goals to deal with this year. The challenge is, there are also loads of reasons why we couldn't do it once we realise we haven't got there.
There is a way though - a sure-fire way of making sure you achieve whatever you set out to achieve! We call it -
The Personal Success Plan.
Step 1 - Crystallize your thinking.
Figure out exactly what it is you’re aiming for. Make it a SMART goal and give yourself a real target.
Step 2 - Develop a plan, and give yourself a deadline to achieve it.
Break things down into the action steps you know you can achieve. Day by day, week by week, month by month. Set things in motion to move you forward.
Step 3 - Develop a sincere desire to achieve.
Do you really want to achieve. I mean REALLY? A real burning desire to achieve keeps you on track and wanting to achieve the goal.
Step 4 - Develop supreme confidence in your ability to achieve the goal. Concentrate on your strengths. Identify areas to develop and if necessary build the skills until you have the confidence necessary.
Step 5 - Develop the determination to follow through on your plan regardless of what anyone else says or anything else that happens.
Stick to it! What will it bring you if you complete it? How will that change your life? Are you determined to achieve it? Is it a ‘want to’, or is it a MUST!
“Whatever you vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe and enthusiastically act upon… must inevitably come to pass.”
