Learn how to eat your 5 A Day the SIMPLE way
For some time now I've been bleating on about the fact that if we achieve our health and fitness targets during the day we won't eat into that precious evening time we all are striving to preserve. Plus the fact you can feel incredibly smug and proud of yourself knowing your evening is totally your own and free of any 'I should eat this' or 'I should go to the gym' pressures.

At last there is some interesting research to back up this thinking. According to the World Health Organisation (and many others for that matter) we spend so many of our waking hours at work that to try and fit our 5-a-day and 10,000 steps in at the end of each working day is near impossible - just as many of you have already found! For example, the US department for health & agriculture state if you don't eat some of your daily 5 portions of fruit and vegetables between 9am and 6pm the average adult would have to eat 1 - 2 portions of fruit or veg every hour after work until bedtime to reach their minimum 5 a day. Could you manage an apple, a pear, a portion of broccoli, a cup of carrots and a cup of cabbage all as part of your main evening meal? Could you manage all of this even if you already had the apple and pear during the day? Still a bit much isn't it?

However if you do as we recommend at Life Doctor and aim to eat 3 of your 5 portions before you leave work for the day, not only is 2 vegetables in the evening a much more manageable number but you will also have the added benefit of more energy during the day from those lovely nutrient rich fruit and veg you've already eaten. As another brucey bonus if you still fancy some type of fruit in the evening or an extra veg with dinner you're well on the way to 6 or 7 portions a day - now that's super healthy!
