The Life Doctor wins Promotion Package
The InnovationShowcase.co.uk proudly presents one of the 6 lucky winners of the inaugural Berkshire Live GIFT Pitching Competition, Karen Harmsworth, Managing Director, Life Doctor Ltd..
Using an effective combination of nutrition advice and life coaching to motivate her clients to lead a healthier lifestyle, Karen has had enormous success with a very varied population of clients.
Karen is passionate about good nutrition and has experienced the profound health benefits herself. She mainly works with corporate business people helping them to adjust their lifestyle around the pressures of the business world. She has been there; rising quickly through the corporate ladder to MD at the age of thirty, she worked seventy stressful hours a week and ate badly. Tired of feeling twice her actual age, Karen made some simple but powerful changes to her lifestyle. Seeing the dramatic effect this had on her productivity and performance she decided to re-train as a nutritionist and executive coach to then offer this combination to others. She retrained, qualified, gave up her job and set up Life Doctor Ltd, she has never looked back. Her corporate experience helps her to empathise with the pressures her clients face, but her success in lifestyle changes shows her clients it can be done with a proven step by step approach.
Karen relishes a challenge, the “I’m just too busy” excuse for an un-healthy lifestyle just spurs her on to prove to the individual that if they follow her simple 6 step process then they become: even more effective at their job, they are bursting with energy, they feel happier and their business soars.
Karen said “Nutrition is the basis of everything. It is an endless fascination to me how by changing peoples diet it profoundly changes their lives”.
The 6 step process gives the clients one task each week which is underpinned by coaching. It is all about actions, goals and visions and feels like a business process, therefore the busy professional is able to slot it into their lives easily.
When trying to decide the direction of her life after leaving the corporate world Karen visioned “It would make me very happy to positively impact the lives of many”. Through improving her own nutrition she has noticed that those around her have taken many elements on board and changed their habits too. This happens to those around her clients as well so Karen is well on her way to achieving her dream.
Karen’s top tips for cutting the Christmas calorie intake:
1) Plan what meals you are going to eat for the Christmas week in advance, this will mean you only purchase what you need, will nibble less and feel more in control.
2) Christmas day in moderation – start the day with a good healthy breakfast and then eat a bit of what you fancy but only in small quantities – do you really need 5 potatoes or will 2 do?
3) Drink plenty of water and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables to cleanse the system. Clementines and Pomegranates are fabulous & refreshing Christmas fruit, it’s not just about chocolate!
