Internet marketing achieves record high
An increasing number of companies are realising the potential of internet marketing, with budgets reaching a record high, according to the latest Bellwether Report.
The latest quarterly survey from the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) has revealed that companies are spending more than ever on internet marketing, with over 17 per cent of companies allocating more than ten per cent of their marketing spend to online advertising.
Nearly a third of companies claimed to have increased their internet marketing budgets for the second quarter of 2006, while just six per cent reported budget cuts.
However, traditional advertising and sales promotion budgets were revised down for the fifth consecutive quarter, although cuts were the smallest since the second quarter of 2005.
Wayne Arnold, chairman of IPA Digital and managing director of Profero, commented: "The latest Bellwether survey continues to confirm that internet advertising is rapidly becoming an integral part of any marketer's communication mix."
