Winners of the European Elections |
|
The winners of the European elections are the MEPs voted in. The losers are the rest of us!
What do we really understand about Europe? Not a lot is the answer and we don’t really seem that bothered. At the last elections I organised an event with a Green candidate and 10 people turned out for the networking more than the politics! Anyway, I found myself on Thursday wanting to know more about the European elections and the potential winners so I went off and did some research. I compiled my research into a news article called Who to VOTE for in the European Elections. It included a mention of our Online Marketing Magic event on the Friday, a spot of self promotion! And then went on to provide links to all the political parties represented. This meant that from Google’s point of view it was very relevant to the European elections. The politicaleditor.co.uk saw 70 visitors visitor’s that day, a trebling of normal traffic as most people seem to find politics dullsville! But that was not the main beneficiary of the story. Published via our Business in Berkshire website the story was indexed within minutes of publication and found itself at the TOP of Google for the rest of the day for the title of the piece and also variations on the theme. The Business in Berkshire website had an extra 1000 visitors last Thursday 4th June 2009. The top search string of 1074 currently on the BinB site is who to vote for - with 73 searches, with Derby runners in 3rd spot with 39 people searching for more race information! Our website becomes very hot should we choose to be topical. But that doesn’t mean it is all about us, us, us... the idea is that if you have a BLG website you can add your own news and get similar responses. The key is being topical and in the moment. No point in boring us with yesterday’s news as we don’t want to read it but if your news is about TODAY then bring it on!! LiaiseOnline will shortly be encouraging folk like you to get a Wiggle-ON! Get ready for action!!! |
