Copywriting - Lexicon Returns From Tour of Britain

Lexicon's Nicola Joyce has just returned from a six-day Tour of Britain...not a holiday, but a working trip managing the media at Britain's annual professional cycling race.

She might have visited Scotland, the northwest, Yorkshire, the West Midlands, Kent and London in a week, but this was far from a holiday. Long days were spent managing the press room at the start of the race, sorting media accreditation, ensuring that press and broadcasters gained speedy access to any rider or organiser they wanted to interview and then writing the Tour's own press releases at the end of the day - oh, and trying to watch a bit of the race where possible!

She left with a mobile phone filled with the numbers of new interviewees for future features, and business cards of potential clients, making sure to turn the Tour into a networking event as well as a working week and creating new friendships along the way.

She even got a couple of signed jerseys and blagged a hair-raising ride in an official team car during the final stage of the race. She's sure that she'll never drive at that speed through the streets of London again!
