Put Your Best Foot Forward For Local Charity
Did you know that the Bracknell and Districts branch of national charity Samaritans is holding its annual Sam Run fun run on Sunday 2 July? That's eight weeks away - plenty of time to train, get fit and raise some funds for a local cause. I bet you'd even enjoy it, too!
Bracknell and Districts Samaritans is based in Bracknell and supports the local area, offering a confidential and non-judgemental ear to those in crisis. The movement as a whole receives around five million contacts a year. Resources are stretched and the charity relies on fundraising events, such as the annual "Sam Run" to keep their centres open 24/7.
The fun run will be held at Wellington College, in Crowthorne, on Sunday 2 July. It's a relaxed and fun event, with everyone encouraged to take part. With a 5K and 10K event on offer, there's an option for everyone. 5K is only a little over 3 miles, which would take well under an hour even if you walked it (as some do).
Samaritans volunteers give nearly 2.5 millions hours of their time every year to provide support for those in crisis who telephone, email, text or visit Samaritan centres. Can you give just a few hours to train for and take part in their annual fundraising Fun Run?
