February 2010 - testing times |
||||
Magazines work months in advance. That's why you would have found Nicola shivering in the February air as she tested a number of wetsuits for a triathlon magazine this month. She was joined by a photographer on one of her test days and he was shivering despite being a dive-master. She ran the Wokingham half marathon later in the month which helped warm her up a bit.
When Nicola wasn't cold, wet or wrestling with neoprene this month, she was writing sport and fitness articles and coming up with copy for a range of local businesses. For digital marketing agency Wildfire UK, she wrote email copy for their clients EnviroSafety Solutions and QoLCom (Wildfire have since asked Nicola to rewrite all of their own website copy - it's yet to be launched). For Green Parlour florist in Pangbourne she wrote copy for two new brochures (corporate and weddings) and for new triathlon website allyouneedtotri.com she wrote a range of copy from press releases to sales letters. With her journalism hat on, she wrote an article about triathlon for local magazine Family Fitness Magazine and a kit test for 220triathlon magazine as well as a real-life piece for health and wellbeing magazine Sweet. She helped local executive coach Ali Heathfield and local lifestyle concierge Andrea Williams with articles they'd secured in a business magazine (they knew what they wanted to say but just didn't have time to do the job justice). Finally, Nicola wrote the open-water column for the Swimming Times (the magazine of British Swimming, the sport's NGB). Nicola even got round to doing some writing for herself this month. Ahead of the TCR Show (a big triathlon exhibition at Sandown), she put together a new webpage specifically aimed at any sport or fitness companies who need a copywriter. Who do you know who would benefit from a copywriter who knows B2C sport and fitness like the back of her hand?
