June 2009 - hen do in a heatwave

Nicola's not too sure where June got to. The month was packed with a combination of copywriting projects, magazine articles, races and hen parties (she's in her 30s and it's Summer...what can you expect?)

With her journalism hat on (a miniature yellow fedora, since you ask), she filed two articles to Triathlete's World magazine (one about triathlon gadgets - she had a fun time researching that one - and one about strength training for triathletes). She also wrote an article for Practical Parenting, looking at when and how to introduce babies and toddlers to swimming. Nicola also met an ex-National Ballet ballerina in order to interview her for diabetes and lifestyle magazine Sweet, and headed to an open-water swimming venue in Datchet to test triathlon kit for 220 Triathlon magazine.

With her copywriting hat on (a stylish grey cloche), she wrote her regular monthly newsletter for Assorti, web-copy for Domestique new website and web-copy for Purple Cloud's microsite.

She was delighted to work with the British Triathlon Federation, overhauling the copy on their main website as well as providing some articles for Tri News, the membership magazine read by all British Triathlon members. This project was a chance for Nicola to write about topics close to her heart whilst working alongside friend and client Perfect Motion Sports Marketing. She can hardly believe it was back in 2006 that she worked on the Tour of Britain with you guys!

Nicola continued to train hard for running races and triathlons, taking part in the Wargrave 10K (biking there and back) and the Henley Triathlon (where she was 21/136 female competitors and 9th in her age group). Both days were very hot and sunny - what happened to the rest of the Summer?

Her little sister, Hannah (aka Virtual Girl Friday) had a fantastic hen-do...organised by big sis Nicola of course! Can you tell that the theme was "pink"?
