Copywriting - January 2008 - web writing, worms and Will Self....

The New Year kicked off with a new client for Nicola. No sooner had she registered with the brilliant people at Freelancers In The UK than she had two days event management work. Reading-based event management company Advantage were looking for an experienced conference producer to run an event for Hewlett Packard and Nicola fitted the bill.

Back in the office, Nicola is busy producing two conferences for the Chartered Institution for Building Services Engineers and writing the web copy for the Institute for Family Business ahead of their rebranding.

Nicola has also written a CV for a high-level finance exec, a profile for a photographer who's joining Gallery 1839 and is writing copy for fellow Business in Berkshire members including Windsor Vehicle Leasing and the Travel Doctor.

Nicola has written a sparkling press release for her client Harrison's Hair Team which was quickly snapped up by three local papers, getting Harrison's some great coverage including a full-page article. Harrison's Hair Team are delighted.

And she's about to start freelance writing work for a brand-new local magazine in Kent called "What's Hot", interviewing celebs who live in Kent and writing features.

She rounded off the month by visiting West London's Book Slam with a friend from her MA Literature course (which she did, somewhat terrifyingly, a decade ago). There she had ringside seats during two readings by the rather fabulous Will Self who was promoting his latest book.

In other news, Nicola became the proud owner of several dozen worms this week who now reside in a Worm Hotel in her garden. January's a funny month....
